Morell victorious at Girls Junior Amateur tourney

HASTINGS -- Katherine Morell of McCook shot an even par 74 in the final round to capture the Nebraska Girls Junior Amateur Championship at Hastings' 6,034 yard, par-74 Lochland Country Club on Tuesday.

Grand Island's J.C. Stevenson and overnight leader Megan Bartlett tied for second at 160.

Stevenson fired a final round 81 and Bartlett an 84. Lincoln's Shelly McLaughlin finished at 162.

Betsy Conry of Omaha, Kayla Knopik of Papillion and Abby Barlett of Grand Island all finished at 163.
