OBERLIN -- Eugene VanOtterloo, 77, died Tuesday (April 26, 2005) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born Oct. 26, 1927, to Johnannas and Fannie (Bultje) VanOtterloo in Jaubert, S.D. He was raised in Colorado and attended school in South Dakota.

On Aug. 17, 1948, he married Shirley Ludwig in Denver, Colo.

On Jan. 21, 1972, he married Neva Butler in Las Vegas, Nev. He moved to Norcatur, Kan., in 1974.

On June 7, 2002, he married Laurene Bryan in Oberlin. The couple made their home in Oberlin. He was a refrigerator repairman.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Neva VanOtterloo; brother, Alvin VanOtterloo; and sister, Lois Van Corbach.

Survivors include Laurene VanOtterloo of Oberlin; sons, Larry E. VanOtterloo of Oberlin and Rick J. VanOtterloo' daughters, Susan K. Peyton and husband, Van of Aurora and Cheryle Hankle and husband, Steve of Denver, Colo.; brothers, Marvin of Lakewood, Colo., Lee and wife, Donna of Joplin, Mo., Jim and wife, Kathy of Arvada, Colo., and Don of Denver; sisters, Arlene Trostle of Denver, Eleanor Monihan of Denver, Betty Carter and husband, Dave of Golden, Colo., and Diane Burget of Montrose, Colo.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services are Saturday, 1 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be in Norcatur Cemetery in Norcatur.

Visitation is Friday, 3-8 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m., until service time.

Memorials may be given to the Oberlin United Methodist Church.
