Letter to the Editor

Great ideas for giving

Friday, April 1, 2005

Dear Editor,

I'm sure glad Steve Stramel is chairing the newly formed George W. Bush Society. It's obvious he has nothing better to do with his time.

Although I like the evil- doer statement to be placed on the statue I think a better idea would be to ask one of about 50 million people that are living in the free democratic countries of Af-ghanistan or Iraq for suggestions.

Surely there would be no one better to ask then these people, which in just a few short years have acquired the freedoms a lot of Americans take for granted.

Like the freedom of religion, free speech, free press or the right to peaceably assemble. They even have the right to criticize their own government, which would have had them killed a few short years ago.

Certainly they would have a better understanding of the contributions the "greatest president in U.S. history" (original quote from Steve Stramel, but I like it) has made to the world. It's not that I disagree with Steve's original statement in fact the facts show that yes if you are an evil doer he is going to get you!

It's just too bad we didn't have more presidents with this attitude. We would probably still have a couple of twin towers standing in New York and three thousand American citizens still living.

Anyway Steve, I'm glad to see you have finally seen the righteousness in the actions our president has taken. Not only do you have 100 percent of my support, but certainly the support of millions more in your new endeavor.

Kirt Matson
