Letter to the Editor

God bless troops

Friday, March 4, 2005

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank you for printing the letters from Sgt. Jeff Tidyman, USMC. His letters are a classic example that the truth is always more interesting and exciting than fiction.

I would like to share a brief paragraph from the book, titled "A Table in the Presence" by Lt. Carey H. Cash (a chaplain serving with the U.S. Marines in Iraq), page 202.

These words were spoken to Chaplain Cash by Cpl. Ayani Dawson on April 11, 2003. (On April 10, the U.S. Marines took control of Saddam Hussein's Almilyah Presidential Palace in Baghdad. Cpl. Dawson took part in this battle.)

"Chaplain," Dawson grinned, "remember those angels, the ones your wife talked about ... the legions? They were there, surrounding us, protecting us, defending us. I should be dead, Chaplain, but God was with me."

Cpl. Dawson was speaking of Psalm 91:11, which states "For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways." God bless the Marine Corps, and all of our troops and their families.

Sincerely,

George Anderson,

McCook
