WAUNETA -- Hilda Roschewski, 93, died Saturday (Jan. 15, 2005) at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial.

She was born Sept. 23, 1911, to Henry C. and Sophia (Haarberg) Fortkamp in Chase County. She attended school at District 40 in Chase County and also at St. Paul Parochial School in Dundy County.

On Sept. 22, 1932, she married William J. Roschewski at St. Paul Lutheran Church. They couple farmed in Chase County for 15 years before moving to a farm in Hayes County where she resided until her death.

She was a member of St. Paul until she transferred to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wauneta. She was also a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and served in various offices.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; son, Wayne; grandson, Anthony; parents; sisters, Velma and one who was still born; and seven brothers, William, John, Fred, Irvin, Albert, Emil and LaVerne.

Survivors include her daughters, Elaine Jones and husband, Wally of Skialook, Okla., and Carolyn Anderson and husband, Ted of Wauneta; son, Danny Roschewski and wife, Sharla of Imperial; brothers, Martin Fortkamp and wife, Erma of Wauneta and Art Fortkamp and wife, Nina of Wauneta; sisters, Violet Long of Wauneta; daughter in law, Elaine Roschewski of Palisade; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services were Thursday at Redeemer Lutheran Church of Wauneta with the Rev. Greg Stuckwisch officiating. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Wauneta.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
