I was pleased and proud of this letter I received after the championship game from Fr. Morin of the Pius X High School. I wanted to share it with all of you.

Dear Fr. Brethour,

I am sure some of your parishioners are athletes for the McCook football team, so I write to congratulate you, the team and the fans for their efforts at last Saturday's State Championship football game. The level of play was extraordinary.

Either team could have won that night, and consequently everyone can hold their head up and be proud of their efforts.

The specific purpose of this letter, though, is to congratulate you and your parishioners for the sportsmanship of both players and fans.

I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for such a long winning streak to end in the final seconds of a championship game.

Yet, everyone's behavior was exemplary. I was most impressed that the players displayed the courtesy to get on a knee as the Pius X players received their trophy.

It was a wonderful display of true character. You must be proud!
