Letter to the Editor

Serving whom?

Monday, November 1, 2004

Dear Editor,

About two months ago, the Gazette had a very interesting article.

In essence it said that since the Republican party had become "the party of God," that the Democratic party was turning to the secularists (those who have no conscience toward God) for votes.

It also detailed how this rift between the two parties began in the early 1970s and has become deeper and deeper ever since. It became especially deep when the Democratic party included abortion as one of their planks and will grow even deeper when they sanction "legal unions" between homosexuals.

Ever since the dawn of human history, mankind has been divided into two camps, the Godly and the unGodly. Cain murdered Abel, Jacob and Esau, the two thieves hanging on crosses on either side of Jesus. These are the prominent ones but they are multiplied out into the millions in our world.

Are you for or against God? That's the big question. The Bible says that those who are true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ will one day have to stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ, where we will be judged for every "idle" word that we speak. That's how exacting God is. If we will be judged for every "idle" word that we speak, don't you think we will also be judged for how we vote?

How can we vote for a candidate from a party that endorses murder of the unborn? The Bible teaches that life begins at conception. Isn't one of the 10 commandments, "You shall not kill?"

Would this not also extend to the killing of human embryos?

If God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns for their sin of homosexuality (men burning in their lust one toward another and women burning in their lust one toward another) do you think He would endorse it today? The Bible teaches that "God is Holy (absolutely sinlessly perfect) and that He is the same yesterday, today and forever." "I am the Lord, I change not."

Christian friend, Jesus Christ paid an awful price for your sins and mine and the choice is very clear. We can cast our vote for Him or against Him. Can you conscientiously vote for someone who represents that which God condemns? When Israel turned to Baal worship, the prophet Elijah had a contest with the 450 prophets of Baal.

When the true God answered by fire, Elijah challenged the Israelites, "If God be God serve Him, if Baal is God serve him."

Cordially,

Paul Schneider
