Football playoffs begin for Classes C, D Thursday

Several area Class C and Class D teams begin the state playoffs by hosting games on Thursday.

In Class C1first round action, Chase County (7-1) hosts Hershey (4-4). The Longhorns' only loss came at the hands of Chadron.

In C2, Southwest (6-2) hosts Sutherland (4-4) in a rematch of week four's game, which was won by the Roughriders, 48-46. Cambridge (6-2) hosts Hemingford (5-3) in the first meeting of the season between the two. Grant (3-5) will travel to Garden County (7-1) on Thursday.

In Class D1, Arapahoe (8-0) hosts Maxwell (5-3), a team which the Warriors defeated 50-0 in three quarters this past Friday. Elm Creek (7-1) will travel to Wauneta-Palisade (6-2).

In D2 football, Hayes Center (8-0) will host Minatare (5-3). This is the two teams' first meeting this year.

Wallace (7-1) will host Stapleton (6-2) for the second time in six days.
