Letter to the Editor

Just a reminder

Thursday, June 3, 2004

Dear editor:

People, especially of America, that are so blessed with prosperity and knowledge, should be reminded that the Bible is the Holy Bible which is God's word to the world. The books of the Bible, or Holy Scripture, came not by the will of man but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (II Peter 1:21).

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine (teaching), for reproof (enlightening the understanding), and for instruction in righteousness (right living). (II Timothy 3:15

If the church is not telling and instructing that adultery is wrong, hatred is wrong, drunkenness, idolatry, gossip, obesity (over-eating) is wrong, homosexuality is an abomination (detestable, loathed), to God -- if these and other issues of right and wrong that are stated in the Bible are not taught, that are protection from our own destruction -- whose fault is it?

We need to know God is gracious and merciful -- God will forgive and deliver us from these things if we will come to him and ask to be forgiven (repent and turn from) of our wrongs.

Romans 1:21-32 tells us that when they knew God they did not respect him as God and became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise the became fools. In verse 24, God gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts (sexual desires) of their own hearts to dishonor their own bodies between themselves, who changed the truth (that God made woman for man) of God into a lie, and worshiped the creature more than the creator. For more please read the rest of Romans, chapter 1.

If we confess our sin as a nation or individually, God will forgive us. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him (Jesus) should not perish but have everlasting life (live forever).
