Letter to the Editor

Cat coverage wanted

Thursday, June 3, 2004

Dear Editor:

If memory serves me, October of this past year a big portion of the paper was dedicated to it being "Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog" month. This is a wonderful cause and I, being an advocate for animals, enjoyed the coverage you gave the dogs at the time.

It is because I love all creatures great and small that I write this letter. June is "Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat" month. I would love to see equal time for the meowing kind. I have the joy of owning one and she has been my faithful friend since I adopted her from the McCook Shelter about six years ago. She meets me at the door when I come home from work, and helps me read the paper. The house isn't lonely as she is there to keep me company. She is, as most cats are, just as loving as dogs -- I know as I have both as pets. So I'd like it if the Gazette saw fit to give cats the spotlight this month. And as always, please spay and neuter your pets.

Sincerely,

Tina Schultz
