I-300 under attack

Tuesday, February 17, 2004

Dear Editor,

I want to take this opportunity to inform the farmers, ranchers and persons interested in agriculture and eating fine food that Initiative 300 is again under attack.

LB1086, supported by Gov. Johanns and the chair of the Unicameral Agriculture Committee, LB1086, would create a governor-appointed task force that would be required to propose changes in I-300, including the possibility of repealing I-300, Nebraska's constitutional amendment that restricts corporate farming.

If successful in repealing I-300, it would become and promote itself as a corporate-friendly state.

Those interested in saving the family farm and ranch, please let Gov. Johanns and your state senator know that you want I-300 left as is.

For more information, call the Center for Rural Affairs at (402) 687-2100.

Thank you,

Margaret Faimon
