Bryce Millard Brown

Bryce Millard Brown died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney at the age of 65. He was born Nov. 13, 1938, on the family farm in Hitchcock County, the son of the late James and Letha (Williamson) Brown. Bryce grew up southeast of Trenton, attended a one room country school and graduated from Trenton High School in 1956. He entered the United States Air Force that fall.

Following his honorable discharge from the service, he returned to Hitchcock County where he helped his parents on the family farm. He also worked for Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., Western Electric in Colorado Springs, Colo., and Fender Guitar in Anaheim, Calif. He became a civilian contractor repairing helicopters for the military during the Vietnam War. He received his private pilots license following his military service. He was a former member of the AOPA. He was an accomplished aviation and civilian mechanic who enjoyed working on autos and motorcycles. In 1968, he returned to farming full time in Hitchcock County.

On Feb. 13, 1970, Bryce married Pamela Schmidt in Juarez, Mexico, and they purchased a farm southeast of Trenton where he spent the remainder of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Bryce is survived by his wife, Pamela; three children, Curtis of Culbertson and Andrea and Clarence of Kearney; three brothers, Robert Brown and wife, Nancy of Trenton, Marion Brown and wife, Sandel of McCook and Dale Brown and wife, Sarah of Omaha; six sisters, Joan Keeney of Norfolk, Vernelle Petsch of McCook, Nancy Harper and husband, Cal of Wichita, Kan., Linda Jacobsen of Eagle Rock, Mo., Katherine Mann and husband, Bill of Reno, Nev., Sheila Frazier and husband, Rick of Westminister, Colo.; and relatives and friends.

Private family services were Wednesday, Dec. 24, at Herrmann Memorial Chapel in McCook with the Rev. Dan Spearow officiating. Interment was in the Trenton Cemetery. A public dinner was held for the family and friends at the Trenton Community Building at noon. Herrmann Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
