ATWOOD -- Eugene C. Reeh, 76, died Monday (Sept. 8, 2003) at Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kan.

He was born Nov. 17, 1926, to Frank and Mary (Schwartz) Reeh in Beardsley, Kan. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

On June 14, 1955, he married Virjean McKnight at Sacred Heart Church in Atwood. He was a maintenance engineer for Rawlins County Hospital for 35 years. Six months every year, the couple lived in Mission, Texas.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood, Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen, Texas, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6882 of Colby and a 50 year member of Sam Hubbard American Legion Post No. 46 of Atwood. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Joseph, Herman, Lenard and Danny.

Survivors include his wife, Virjean of Atwood; two daughters, Beatrice Suppers and husband, Michael of Hays, Kan., and Bernadette Luedke and husband, Dennis of Atwood; two sisters, Irene Withington and Deloris Reeh, both of Atwood; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A mass of Christian burial is Friday, 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Atwood with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Atwood. Military rites will be performed by Sam Hubbard American Legion Post No. 46.

A vigil and rosary will be recited Thursday, 7:30 p.m., at Brantley Funeral Home.

Visitation is Wednesday, 1-9 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given in his name to Thomas More Prep-Marian.
