Mabel (Mock) Mues

ARAPAHOE -- Mabel (Mock) Mues, 93, died Thursday (Sept. 20, 2001) at the Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.

She was born Jan. 15, 1908, at Arapahoe to Carl and Mary (Horman) Mock. She was baptized at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, and confirmed at the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in rural Arapahoe. She graduated from Holbrook High School in 1927.

On June 11, 1930, she married Albert Mues at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. She spent her entire life in Furnas County. She was employed at the Sam Davis General Merchandise Store in Holbrook, and taught rural school for one year.

She was active in church and social organizations, and the quilting group at church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Mues on Oct. 21, 1969; two infant sisters, Martha and Ida Mock; three brothers, Carl Arthur, and infant, Henry Mock; and one daughter-in-law, Vicki Mues.

Survivors include three children, Noel Mues of Arapahoe, Alan and wife, Muschi of rural Cambridge, and Mona Vitosh and husband, Lawrence of rural Odell; one sister, Rachel Mues; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were today at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Carl Lilienkamp officiating. Interment was at the Holbrook Cemetery.

Lockenour-Jones Mortuary of Cambridge was in charge of the arrangements.
