Katherine Hastings

Katherine Hastings, 90, died Monday (March 24, 2003) at Community Hospital of McCook.

She was born Jan. 15, 1913, in Lincoln, to John and Anna (Dering) Worster. She grew up in Lincoln where she attended high school.

She married George Glantz and he preceded her in death.

On Aug. 21, 1950, she married George H. Hastings in Dayton, Iowa. They came to McCook in 1950, where her husband was a veterinarian and owned the McCook Animal Clinic. They spent their married lives in McCook, retiring in 1974.

She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church, Eureka Chapter No. 86 Order of Eastern Star, Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does, and the Community Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, George in 1999; one son, Mike; one daughter, Norma Jean Meyer; son-in-law, Glen Meyer; three brothers, John Worster, Alex Worster and Henry Worster; one sister, Anna Strasheim; and one granddaughter.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan Kay and husband, Larry Vrbas of McCook; one sister-in-law, Margaret Worster of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at the Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.

Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at the funeral home.
