Talent competes in Furnas County

ARAPAHOE -- The 4-H Talent Contest was held at the Ella Missing Community Center in Arapahoe with 12 entries, according to Carol Anderson, Extension Assistant.

Judges for the event July 11 were Joyce Wunibald, Alma and Linda Grabenstein, Eustis. Committee members assisting were Pat and Ashley Rice of Wilsonville.

Receiving purple ribbons were Whitney Rice -- trumpet solo, Catlin Rice -- vocal solo and also Jennifer Shafer for a vocal solo.

Blue ribbons were awarded to Tracy Hayes & Kaye T. Smith -- flute solos, Kaye T and Whitney Rice -- vocal solos and Thomas McHale and Carmen Warner -- piano solos.

Two instrumental solos, Troy Hayes with a trumpet solo and Austin Sayer with a trombone solo were awarded red ribbons.

Three members, Austin Sayer, Danielle Hilker & Kaye T. Smith, and leader, Bev Smith from the 4-H Hunters club of Cambridge presented a skit, "The Three Little Pigs at the County Fair" and were awarded a blue ribbon.

The audience enjoyed the evening of wonderful entertainment. This annual event is sponsored by the Furnas County 4-H Council.
