Wild day at Lamar

LAMAR, Colo. -- The McCook Community College baseball team got caught on the wrong end of a slugfest during the first round of the Region IX Tournament at Lamar, Colo.

The Indians were blasted 32-15 by Western Nebraska.

The Indians established single-game records for most runs scored and most runs allowed.

McCook dropped to 7-43 overall, including an 0-7 mark against the Cougars.

McCook will play Trinidad Junior College at 5 p.m. today in the consolation round.

Trinidad lost to Arapahoe Community College, Denver, 14-5. Lamar will play the winner of Thursday's WNCC-Arapahoe game at 2 p.m. today.

A first-round game was scheduled for 11 a.m. today.

Northeastern Junior College, Sterling, Colo., was set to play Otero Junior College, LaJunta, Colo.
