Visitors committee OKs funds for genealogical, rodeo events

McCOOK, Neb. -- The Red Willow County visitors committee approved more than $2,000 in grant funding, Tuesday afternoon, to assist a genealogy exposition and two rodeo events coming to the area. The Southwest Nebraska Genealogical Society will receive $439 and hopes to attract approximately 50 attendees to an all day exposition later this month focusing on family history and genealogy. ...

Not everybody is completely sold on green energy, judging by comments made by neighbors to a proposed wind farm in Southwest Nebraska. "I think it's going to negatively impact our property values," neighbor Larry Chapman said at a Hallam Village Board meeting Monday. "I don't oppose the project, but I don't want one (wind turbine) that's close to my house. Nobody's going to want to buy that acreage."...
