The special session of the Nebraska Legislature is over and Nebraska now has an oil pipeline siting process. I signed LB 1 and LB 4 into law on Tuesday, Nov. 22. LB 4 will address the circumstances that exist regarding the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline. The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality will now work with the U.S. Department of State to develop a Memorandum of Understanding on how to move forward...

Danny and I started a list at the beginning of the year, detailing notable events worldwide. Danny was of the opinion that 2011 was going to be a year to remember. I really hate it when he's right. Eventually, I had to give the list up. After filling more than three pages with earthquakes, insurrections, wildfires and flooding -- before even half of the year had passed -- I just couldn't take it anymore...
