A Bartley resident who accidentally shot a man in April was seen in Red Willow District Court on Monday. Merlin R. Hinz, 34, of Bartley, pleaded not guilty to second degree assault, a Class IIIA felony, with trial set for Oct. 25 -26 at 9 a.m. In an affidavit given to Red Willow County Deputy Alan Kotschwar, Hinz said he did not personally remember the shooting due to the amount of alcohol he had drank that night...
