The last of the Christmas cards, holiday greetings, seasonal salutes, whatever you want to call them will be arriving in the next two days. The roots of racism have always eluded me. I've never understood how bias, prejudice, discrimination, intolerance and even hatred can be based solely on the basis of a person's skin color. Yet racism has a long and hateful history and even though we have made great strides in reducing it in this country, its total elimination appears to be light years away...

Happy Holidays to the constituents of Legislative District 44. As we eagerly anticipate the beginning of 2006, a new legislative session will soon be upon us. Jan. 4 marks the first day of the upcoming 60-Day session. As per usual, the short session will leave little time for tackling the agendas of all 49 senators. Unfinished business that will carry over from last session alone will consume a substantial amount of time...
