Former Sheriff Jim Short dies

Former Red Willow County Sheriff Jim Short, 78, died today at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook. Short served as sheriff from 1951 until 1986. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook.

Quick thinking saves plane, crew
