Stereo noise
(Column ~ 05/31/02)
I agree with Mr. Potthoff, they do need guardrails. I disagree on the noise levels. If he would take a decimeter and listen to the decibel level outside the cars of most teenagers, he would find that they do more damage to their ears on a daily basis than those cars do on a weekly basis. The noise level rattles my windows, prevents me from hearing my own television, and I don't live anywhere near where they need to be running around anyway...

Stop the lies
(Column ~ 05/31/02)
I would like to Speak Out about the lies about the race track. Lie number one was about the race car that rolled over and almost went through the fence at the ballpark. Lie number two is noise levels officially measured. But where is the proof? Who measured it and what instruments were used. If this was done officially, the McCook Gazette would have been given a copy of the results to print...

747 mufflers?
(Column ~ 05/31/02)
Dear Editor, I question the validity of Mr. Potthoff's claim that the noise levels at the race track equal that of a 747 jet. Perhaps it had mufflers on it. Each car owner pays S15 and another S15 for each crew member to get into the pits at the racetrack, each and every race night...

Gubernatorial candidate Paul Rosberg made a stop in McCook on Thursday morning as part of his walk across Nebraska in an effort to meet citizens and hear their concerns for the state.
