County responds to White House

Sheriff Gene Mahon is preparing a letter for the White House detailing Red Willow County's homeland security strategies. The White House request, which came through the Nebraska Association of County Officials, asked three basic questions: What organization is responsibile for implementing homeland security; what efforts are being made to increase domestic security, and what are the community's future initiatives and priorities with regard to homeland security? Mahon, who also is Red Willow County's emergency services director, told county commissioners on Tuesday that the letter would detail the county's updated Local Emergency Operating Plan, efforts at public education, and the function of the local emergency protection committee.. ...
