CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Esther E. Joseph, 89, died Thursday (Dec. 9, 2010), in the long term care of the Tri-Valley Health System.

She was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Indianola, Nebraska to John and Elizabeth "Bessie" (Colling) Madden. She attended country school and later school in Indianola.

On June 5, 1943, she was united in marriage to Delton P. Joseph at St. Catherine's Catholic Church. The couple moved to a farm north of Cambridge and lived there until 1984. She moved from the farm into Cambridge.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and the altar society.

She worked at the Cambridge hospital as a nurse's aid for more than 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1984; two brothers, Cecil and Clarence "Stub" Madden.

She is survived by her son, Gary of Cambridge; daughter, Kay and husband, Doug Raburn of Durham, North Carolina; three sisters, Cecelia Hertz of Grand Island, Nebraska Mary Gill of Denver, Colorado, and Patricia and husband, Gayle Tines of Kearney, Nebraska; and four grandchildren;

Mass of Christian burial is Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Robert Barnhill officiating.

Rosary is Tuesday, 10 a.m., at the church.

Memorials may be left to the Tri-Valley Foundation Memorial Fund.
