Geraldine Willmann Eckhardt Johnson

May 24, 1928 -- June 6, 2009

PALISADE, Colo. -- Geraldine passed away in Palisade, Colo., on June 6, 2009 at the age of 81.

Geraldine was born on May 24, 1928, in Cheyenne, Wyo., to George and Amelia (Amen) Willmann. She grew up in Culbertson and graduated from Culbertson High School in May 1945. Geraldine married George Eckhardt June 10, 1945, they had one child, Cathy Jo. He preceded her in death in Denver, Colo., in 1959.

On Aug. 5, 1960, she married Albert Lester Johnson at St. John's Lutheran Church in Denver. They had two sons, Dennis James and Daniel Paul. She worked in the office at Gates Rubber Co. for 12 years. After remarrying she was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed reading, making quilts and baking.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her two husbands, two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by daughter, Cathy Jo and husband, Larry of Florida; sons, Dennis James and wife, Cindi of Clifton, Colo., and Daniel Paul and wife, Diane of Clifton, Colo.; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be in her beloved mountains where family will share memories and thoughts of Geraldine.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made in Geraldine's name to the Children's Hospital Foundation, 13123 E. 16th Ave., PO Box 045, Aurora, CO. 80045.
