Norman Charles Pfortmiller

ATWOOD -- Norman Charles Pfortmiller, 66, died Saturday (July 12, 2008) at the Rawlins County Health Center in Atwood.

He was born Oct. 26, 1941, in Great Bend, Kan., to Charles and Bernadean Pfortmiller. The family moved to Bushton, Kan., where he attended middle school before moving to Hays, Kan., where he graduated from Hays High School in 1959.

Upon graduation he entered the oil field business, roughnecking for many years. In May 1967, he married Judee Oller in Miami, Okla. To this union, Bradley Norman was born. Along with the marriage came a daughter, LaDonna Kay, who he called his own.They moved to Hays, where he worked for Harmon's Water Service. In 1972, he purchased Harmon's Water Service and the family moved to Atwood.

On Oct. 1, 1983, he married Linda Raile. With this marriage came three daughters, Corky, Melissa and Amy.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday at United Methodist Church in Atwood with the Rev. Gary Davison officiating. Interment will be in the Natoma City Cemetery in Natoma, Kan.

Memorials may be given in his name.
