RED?CLOUD -- Lois Bethel Dow, 89, died Wednesday (April 25, 2007) at the Good Samaritan Center at Atkinson.

She was born Dec. 10, 1917, at Macedonia, Iowa to Ethel (Roll) and James P. Ridlen. She grew up in Chase County where she moved with her parents in 1926. She married to Kenneth N. Dow on June 10, 1939, at Benkleman. They lived most of their married life on the farm in Jewell County, Kan., near Esbon. They moved to Red Cloud in 1971, where he preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1979. She then moved to Palisade. In September of 2000, she moved to Orchard, residing there until December of 2003, when she moved to the Good Samaritan Center at Atkinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children, Karen and Gayle Dean; two brothers, Paul and Lee; and a great-granddaughter.

Survivors include two sons, Gary and wife, Marcie of Salina, Kan., and Jim and wife, Phyllis of Orchard; four brothers, Carl Ridlen and wife, Virginia of Fairview, Tenn.; Ray Ridlen and wife, Thelma of Palisade, Roy Ridlen of Palisade and Robert Ridlen and wife, Deanna of Aurora, Colo.; and three sisters, Marie Mader of Tacoma, Wash.; Pauline Landrus and husband, Earl of Spokane, Wash.; Lucille Dinnel and husband, Vernon of Enders; six grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at the Palisade Bible Chapel in Palisade with the Revs. Gary Dow and Steve Dow officiating. Interment will be at 4 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery in rural Jewell County, Kan., north of Esbon.

Visitation will be Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Simonson-Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
