Lanny Eugene Carlson died Thursday (March 29, 2007) at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook at the age of 68.

He was born Dec. 16, 1938, at Stratton the son of Willis and Effie (Hay) Carlson. He lived on a farm south of Stratton for almost six years until he and his parents moved to the family farm south of Trenton. Lanny attended Dyke country school. He furthered his education at Trenton High School and graduated in 1956. After high school Lanny went to school at Pueblo, Colo., where he studied telegraphy. He was subsequently employed with the C B & Q Railway in Illinois where he met his wife, Judith Rogers.

Lanny and Judy were married in Marion Hills, Ill., on Nov. 9, 1957. In 1961, Lanny and Judy moved to the Virgil Hay farm south of Trenton where they enjoyed farming for the rest of their married life.

Lanny was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, The Culbertson Masonic Lodge No. 174, all York Rite Bodies in McCook, and Bethel Chapter 109 Order of Eastern Star in Culbertson. Lanny's hobbies were restoring stationary engines and antique tractors. He loved football and his Kansas City Chiefs.

Lanny was preceded in death by his father, Willis Carlson in 1993.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Carlson of Trenton; two sons, William "Bill" Carlson and his wife, Karen of Minden and Terry Carlson and his wife, Reva of Trenton; one daughter, Peggy Fyn and husband, Greg of Culbertson; his mother, Effie Carlson of McCook; one brother, Roger Carlson and wife, Melinda of Atwood, Kan.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, B.J. Carlson and wife, Kristen, Ryan Carlson and wife, Arica, Tara Cole and fiance Wayne Piper, David Paprocki, Lanny Douglas Carlson and wife, Kacey, Chancy Carlson and Cedar Carlson as well as four step-grandchildren, Ruby Reynolds and husband, Greg, Virginia Noffsinger and husband, Drew, Luther Anderson and Rio Klimek; six great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

Visitation will be at Hermann Funeral Home in Trenton, Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Funeral Services will be Friday, at 10:30 a.m., at Trenton Congregational United Church of Christ in Trenton with Pastor Fay Ann Blaylock officiating. Interment will follow services at Trenton Cemetery.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are being accepted in Lanny's name.
