Frederick Louis 'Fritz' Haussler

ARAPAHOE -- Frederick Louis "Fritz" Haussler, 76, of Holbrook, died Tuesday (Dec. 19, 2006), at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge.

He was born Oct. 7, 1930, at Holbrook to Frederick A.C. and Martha L. (Rodenbeck) Haussler. He was baptized Nov. 2, 1930, and confirmed June 11, 1944, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Holbrook. He attended country school near the family's home northwest of Holbrook. He graduated from Holbrook High School in 1948.

On Aug. 6, 1950, he married Elaine Fritz at Holbrook. They made their home on the family farm. He would work for Barney Franke for a short time then would farm until 1996.

He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Holbrook, and later transferred to Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe. He also was a member of the Lion's Club in Holbrook.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eugene in 1972; and two brothers-in-law, Warren Heinzman and Don Mayes.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Haussler of Holbrook; a daughter, Suzanne Volz of Kilmarmock, Va.; two sisters, Elaine Mayes and Thelma Heinzman, both of Grand Island; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. David Otten officiating. Burial will be at the Holbrook Cemetery in Holbrook.

Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and will continue Wednesday at the church prior to services.
