Joyce Jean Sevier, 75, died Thursday, March 31, with her husband, Dwaine, and her family by her side.

She was born July 7, 1929, in Omaha to Irene Wright. She grew up in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School in 1947.

On June 21, 1947, she married Dwaine Sevier in Auburn and they later moved to Lincoln. To this union four children were born, Marty, Linnea, Kevin and Dawn. The family moved to McCook in 1950. Joyce was a stay-at-home mom.

She was involved in Matinee Music Club, County Extension Club, and was on a bowling league for years. Joyce also did the books at their dental lab for the last five years before Dewaine retired in 1999.

She loved to travel and liked to reminisce about their vacations all over the U.S. in their motor home and their trips abroad. She never met a person she didn't like and always found the good in everyone.

Joyce grew up being involved in the Methodist Church and has been a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church since living in McCook.

She is survived by her husband; her son, Marty and wife, Nancy (Hedges) of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Linnea and husband, Rich Wells of Gering; son, Kevin and wife, Cheri (Schneider) of Denver, Colo.; and daughter, Dawn of Westminster, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Shauna, Ali, Julie, Chad, Shane, Derek, Blake, Quade and Auston Vaughn; and two great-grandchildren, Marty and Chloe.

She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father.

Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Cremation took place today and a memorial service is at Memorial United Methodist Church on Monday, April 4, 10:30 a.m.
