BENKELMAN -- Guy V. Main, 90, died Friday (Aug. 20, 2004) at his home in Benkelman.

He was born June 9, 1914, to Glen and Ella (Brethower) Main in Stratton.

On June 8, 1937, he married Alberta Burkhalter in St. Francis. For 32 years he was a rural mail carrier. He also worked at a lumberyard, repaired radiators, hauled freight for the drey line, worked at a theater, hung the mail pouch for the Zephyr and sharpened saws in his spare time.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Benkelman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Ella Main; and siblings, Marie, Opal, Dorothy and Bud.

Survivors include his wife, Alberta Main; sons, Glenard Main and wife, Frances of Dallas, Texas, John Main and wife, Dianna of Tacoma, Wash., Gary Main and wife, Carol of Axtell; brothers, Leonard Main and wife, Rita of Nampa, Idaho and John Main of North Platte; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are Tuesday, 2 p.m., at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with Marcine Farmer, PMA, officiating. Interment will be in in Benkelman Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in his name.
