CAMBRIDGE, Nebraska -- Gordon "Woody" Leach, 65, died Sunday (Feb. 13, 2011), at Cambridge Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Oberlin, Kansas, on May 14, 1945, to Charles "Jack" and Florence (Warner) Leach. Gordon graduated from Lebanon High School in 1964.

He worked on the family farm. In 1975, he went to work for Bill Ellis and several other farmers in the area. After his mother died in 1985, Bill Ellis was appointed his guardian. Woody lived in his home in Lebanon until 2010 when for health reasons he moved to the Cambridge Manor in Cambridge.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Florence; and a brother, Howard.

He is survived by his sister, Phyllis and husband, Neil Wiseman of Gibbon, Nebraska; nieces and nephews; and guardian, Bill Ellis.

Funeral services are Thursday, 2 p.m., at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary with the Rev. Tim Burke officiating. Interment is in Lebanon Cemetery in Lebanon, Nebraska.

Memorials may be left in his name at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge.

Visitation is today until 5 p.m., and on Thursday morning prior to the funeral services.
