OBERLIN -- Bonnie Wurm, 77, died Sunday (Aug. 5, 2007), at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

She was born July 11, 1930, at Prairie View, Kan., to Bert and Nellie (DeYoung) VanDeWege. She was raised on a Prairie View farm and attended Prairie View country schools and Almena High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in education at Fort Hays State University.

On Dec. 27, 1961, she married Arlo Wurm in Prairie View. They lived on a farm southwest of Oberlin. She was a school teacher.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Calico Gals.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, John and Lydia (Unger) Wurm; two brothers-in-law, Jimmy McKay and Raymond Wurm; and a great-niece, Jillian Epard.

Survivors include her husband, Arlo Wurm of rural Oberlin; four sons, Kevin and wife, Kayla of Dresden, Keane of Hays, Kan., Shane and wife, Christy of St. Francis and Stanton and wife, Rochelle of Lebo, Kan.; one daughter, Shawna Lea and husband, Mike Karl of Brighton, Colo.; one brother, Harlan VanDeWege of Prairie View; one sister, Neva and husband, Rich Epard of Colby, Kan.; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis (Wurm) McKay of Jenks, Okla., and Mary Wurm of Loveland, Colo.; and nine grandchildren.

Services are Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church of Oberlin with the Rev. Rick Langness officiating. Interment will be at the Oberlin Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and Thursday beginning at 8 a.m., until the time of the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation; the American Cancer Society, Golden Plains School District, Decatur Community Health Systems-Family Suite and the church.
