Lois Virginia Leibrandt, 84, went to live with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday (March 24, 2007.) She died peacefully in her sleep at her home home McCook.

She was born Nov. 14, 1922, late in the afternoon to Edward and Anna (Novotny) Johnson at their home 18 miles northeast of McCook. She grew up in the area and was baptized in 1933, in the Zion Hill Methodist Church and graduated from Republican Valley High School in 1939.

On March 9, 1940, she married LeRoy Leibrandt at Oberlin. She joined the Peace Lutheran Church at McCook in 1940. They lived on a farm south of McCook until they retired to their home in McCook. To this union were born LeAnna Leibrandt, Larry Leibrandt, Loneta McKierman, Linda Taylor and LaVonne Salisbury.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, LeRoy; daughters and son-in-law Bill McKieman. Twenty six grandchildren, twenty eight great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her son, Larry, brother, Rolland and two sisters, Fern Dueland and Faye Schow.

She had a passion for baking pies, She loved gardening, canning, volunteering at Red Willow County Fairs and the Methodist Helping Hand Thrift Store.

She was a Water Therapy teacher at the McCook YMCA for 30 years and a past member of the Gloomchasers Project Club. LeRoy and Lois were the Heritage Days Honor Family in 1999.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday at the Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, with Rev. Brad Rick officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.

Memorials may be given in her name and friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
