ATWOOD?-- Dorothea "Dororthy" Elizabeth Holste Lewis. 92, died Friday (Jan. 12, 2007).

She was born on May 19, 1914, near Ludell to Herman and Mary (Hoffbauer) Holtse. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ludell. She grew up on the farm where her grandparents settled.

After completing school at Immanuel, she worked for families in the area until Oct. 4, 1941, when she married John (Jack) Franklin Lewis. They lived in Oberlln, Seattle, Wash., California and Rogers, Ark. He passed away in March 1979, in Rogers. In December 1992, she moved to Atwood to be near family.

She was a member of the Lutheran church and served in Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was also a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Atwood.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack; parents Herman and Mary; two brothers, John P. Holste and Clifton J. Holste; one sister, Laurine M. Holste; and in-laws, Irene Holste, Velma Holste, Gilbert Wasserman, Rowlyn Lewis Gilmore, Robert Lewis and Donald Lewis.

Survivors include two sisters, Edith S. Wasserman, and Mary Ann Oelke and husband, Paul, all of Hoxie; five brothers, Gerhard H. and wife, Lorna of Atwood, Arthur H. and wife, Doris of Redding, Calif., Herbert F. of Ludell, Herman M. and wife, Barbara of Bad Axe, Mich., and Robert W. and Betty of Evansville, Ind.; in-laws, Lloyd Davld Lewis, Rozelle Lewis, and Mildred Lewis all of Sarcoxie, Mo.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 1:30 p.m., at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Atwood, with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Ludell.

Memorials may be given in her name to Redeemer Lutheran Church or KNGN Radio Station.

Visitation is today until 8 p.m., Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home in Atwood, and after noon on Wednesday at the church.
