Cecil I. Taylor

BEAVER CITY -- Cecil I Taylor, 93, of Kearney, formerly of Stamford, died Saturday ( May 13, 2006), at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

He was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Furnas County, to Henry C. and Mary (Noirfaliste) Taylor.

He grew up and spent most of his life in Furnas County.

He married Helen Perkins on Dec. 20, 1941, in Hill City, Kan. The couple farmed in Furnas County and The Precept area until their retirement in 1998, when they moved to Kearney.

He was a member of the Gideon Bible Organization. He belonged to Precept Community Church until the church closed and then transferred to Evangelical Free Church at Stamford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; eight brothers; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Kearney; two sons, Elvin and wife, Joyce Taylor of Syracuse, and Richard and wife, Connie Taylor of Beaver City; four daughters, Joyce and husband, Clair Holmes of Hershey, Dorothy and husband, Gene Beck of Knoxville, Tenn., Arlene and husband, Jim Cross of North Platte and Leta and husband, Dennis Gothen of Hastings; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at First Christian Church in Beaver City with the Rev. Dave Hunt officiating. Burial will follow at Precept Cemetery in rural Beaver City.

Viewing and visitation will be until 8 p.m., today, at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and Thursday, at the church, prior to the services.
