LOVELAND, Colo. -- Edna Wood, 96, died Tuesday (Sept. 6, 2005) at the Loveland Good Samaritan Care Center in Loveland.

She was born Aug. 12, 1909, in Culbertson to Alexander and Katherine (Leibrecht) Koch. She grew up in Culbertson and graduated from Culbertson High School in 1929.

In October 1933, Edna married George Desen in Culbertson. They farmed until his death in 1939. She married Chris Braun in 1942. He also preceded her in death. She moved to McCook where she was employed as a cook in the McCook school system for many years. In 1967, she married Earl Wood in Denver, Colo., and they resided in Max. He preceded her in death. In 1971, she returned to Denver where she retired. For the past three years, she resided in Loveland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one son, Raymond Desen on Oct. 5, 2004; her son-in-law, Mel Bedore on April 4, 1996; one sister, Marie Lenhart; and two brothers, Ben Koch and Clarence Koch.

She was a great cook and crocheted many afghans for the family.

She is survived by two daughters, Virginia Bedore of McCook and Ann Drew of Loveland; daughter-in-law, Dixie Desen of Loveland; five grandchildren, Denise Buddenberg and husband, Roz, Darwin Desen and wife, Linda, Theresa Desen, Jeff Desen and wife, Robbi and Rochelle Roberton and husband, Geno; eleven great-grandchildren; and relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, 10 a.m., at the Culbertson Cemetery in Culbertson, with the Rev. Richard Karr officiating. Interment will be in Culbertson Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday evening and Sunday at Herrmann Funeral Home in McCook.

Memorials may be given in her name and left at the funeral home.
