McCOOK, Neb. - For just over 17 years, Game On has been consistently striving to provide endless hours of games, toys, comics and more to the local community. Started in 2007 with an eye towards filling a void in McCook for retail of quality video games, card games and board games; the goal quickly expanded into providing even more variety with the move into the current location at the Westview Plaza.

That expansion has led to carrying a wide selection of pop culture and related merchandise and anything else that can fit in. “One of the things we started carrying that was a bit outside of what people thought we were supposed to do was Disc Golf - but it is a ‘game’ and we enjoyed it so we figured we should carry it and it’s been a great experience. And in the past few years, we added Pickle Ball options to that category as well.” - owner Cody Dame said.

Those expansions continue to evolve and change with Game On carrying comic books, novels, puzzles, anime statues, Funko POP! figures, Nee-Doh, fidgets, Lego, Plush including Squishable, miniatures, Melissa and Doug toys and so much more. Filling the store full with a large amount of options for people of all ages and interests is a big challenge and one the team at Game On enjoys.

“We work really hard at trying to stay on top of all the trends and the hot items across all the different products we carry and make sure we are getting a good selection of items. We want people to come into the store and find fun and exciting things no matter what they are into.” commented Vice-President Audrey Stevens.

To foster a community of enthusiastic gamers, Game On hosts regular gaming nights and events. These events have become a hit, allowing participants to explore different gaming experiences in a fun and welcoming environment. The staff at Game On is dedicated to helping newcomers get started anytime they stop in. Knowledgeable and passionate about gaming, employees are always ready to explain the basics of any game you wish to try. Their commitment to customer service ensures that everyone, regardless of their gaming experience, feels comfortable and confident as they explore new games.

Getting involved at Game On with some form of gaming can be very beneficial for all ages. Games provide convenient ways to have fun, alone or in a group. They help eliminate boredom, relieve stress, and make social engagements more enjoyable and less intimidating. Playing games can also exercise the brain, enhancing mood, memory, concentration, reasoning, and imagination. They can also help with reading comprehension and math skills. Not to mention the benefits of the world of comics and books that Game On also carries.

“Our top game events are mostly centered around the trading card games - Pokemon, Magic the Gathering, Disney Lorcana, One Piece and Star Wars Unlimited. But we also have events for multiple other categories including miniatures, board games and more.” Dame added.

With its extensive selection and fun atmosphere, Game On is more than just a store; it’s a community hub for gamers and people of all kinds. Whether you’re looking for the latest release, a challenging puzzle, or a new family game night staple, there’s something for everyone at Game On.
