Hitchcock team, Longhorn take titles at DC-S golf meet

BENKELMAN, Neb. — Hitchcock County’s golfers were 27-stroke winners in Tuesday’s seven-team Dundy County-Stratton Golf Invitational.

Chase County leader Gavin Wisnieski won the individual title with his round of 74.

However, the team champion Falcons took three of those next four top places.

Jack Baker placed second as his 76 was just two shots from matching Wisnieski.

Ashton Parker-Johnson placed third overall at 82, winning a tie-breaker over host Dante Horner from DC-S.

Brayden Melchert stepped up for fifth overall with his 84, and Darin Neben’s 91 completed the 333 Hitchcock team total.

Hitchcock topped runner-up Chase County’s 360 while Cambridge and those DC-S Tigers tied for third at 387.

Southwest’s 389 earned fifth place as Houstin Billeter (88), Hunter Blume (89) and Colton Sedlacek (90) finished 7-8-9 overall.

Cambridge sophomroe Micah Gerlach completed the top 10 individuals with his 91.

Paxton (405) and Perkins County (517) were the other golf teams competing.

Chase County’s Kaden Vogt (93), Carson Terryberry (94) and Cambridge Trojan Maverick Webb (96) were thre more Top 15 medalists.

The JV golf tourney featured DC-S host Austi Sydow firing 47 across nine holes to edge Hitchcock’s David Beasley (48) for first place.
