McCOOK, Neb. - Tomasa “Tommy” Jarvis, age 86, of McCook, Neb. passed away Friday, March 1, 2024 at Community Hospital in McCook.

Tomasa was born on Sep. 22, 1937 in Cameron, Tex. to parents Felipe and Angelita (Trevino) Gaona. She was one of six children and grew up in Hershey, Neb. where she also attended school.

Tommy married Arthur Alegria on May 23, 1953 in Hershey. The couple was blessed with nine children. Arthur later passed away. Over the years, Tommy lived in Hershey, North Platte, Neb. and Chicago, Ill., moving to McCook in 1970.

While living in McCook, Tommy worked as a caretaker at Highland Park Retirement Community. In 1986, Tommy married Douglas Jarvis in McCook. Tommy was a member of the First Congregational Church and enjoyed traveling with her family and spending time at casinos with friends.

Tommy was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; sons, James and Gilbert; daughter, Mary Ann Alegria; grandson, Bryce Maret; and two sisters, Maria Gutierrrez and Gertrude Gaona.

Those left to celebrate her life include her children, Sunday (Phyllis) Alegria of Culbertson, Neb., Mike (Therese) Alegria of Denver, Colo., Eva (Paul) Monzon of Lincoln, Neb., Elizabeth Vance of Salt Lake City, Utah, Gloria (Michael) Brannon of Winchester, Va. and Frances (Rodney) Maret of McCook, Neb.; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at the First Congregational Church, McCook, with Pastor Steve Bales officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, McCook.
