McCOOK, Neb. — A McCook high school senior is among candidates for McCook City Council

Incumbents had until Feb. 15 to file for re-election, and other candidates must file by 5 p.m. March 1.

Jackson Dellevoet and incumbents Jerry Calvin and Darcy Rambali are so far the only ones who have filed for council in the May 14 election.

Other filings so far are Matthew E. Broz and Ted A. Klug Jr. for Mid Plains Community College board of governors, Rose Weskamp, Tracy Zink, Jolene Messinger, Travis Rousselle and Joe Anderjaska for separate Middle Republican NRD subdistricts, with no candidates yet for an at-large position; Sean Fries and Paul Michael Blume for Indianola City Council; Brad Hays for the McCook School Board; Brooke Brooks, Duane A. Teter and Jason Kloepping for Southwest Public Schools School Board; and no filings for Hitchcock County or Cambridge school boards in Red Willow County.

New this year, voters will have to present a photo ID to cast votes, thanks to LB514, which was signed into law last year.

More details, including acceptable forms of identification, plus early and by-mail requirements are available at https://sos.nebraska.gov/elections/voter-id
