McCOOK, Neb. — Participants at Tuesday night’s McCook Comprehensive Plan workshop use a zoning map to brainstorm ideas for future growth, under the guidance of Craig Bennett and Jason Combs of Miller & Associates.

Topics included a SWOT analysis of Strengths (education, healthcare, transportation) Opportunities (arts, recreation, tourism), Weaknesses (workforce shortages and housing), Threats (declining population and job opportunities) and many others.

Controversial topics such as tiny houses, wind, solar, “shouses,” storage containers and others were also part of the discussion. A fourth public meeting is planned for June, with the comprehensive plan set to be completed next fall.
