Margaret was born on Dec. 12, 1947 at the hospital in Shenandoah, Iowa, daughter of Durward and Marvel (Sar) Dunmire. She received her education from Essex High School.

On Nov. 28, 1964 she was married to Richard Kier. They were blessed with three sons and made their home in various cities throughout southwest Iowa, Omaha, McCook, Grand Island and Lincoln, Neb. During this time, Margaret attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha and earned her Associates of Arts from McCook Community College.

Margaret made any house they lived in feel like home. She loved to put her artistic talent to use and over the years she crocheted, painted and put together beautiful photo albums. Margaret enjoyed supporting both her sons and grandchildren’s sports and show choir events, dance recitals, plays and musicals. She enjoyed playing the piano and sharing her love of music with her grandchildren. She was their biggest fan. Having grandchildren was the joy of her life, and she had a close relationship with them.

She loved to play dominos and cards, and was part of a Bridge club which she hosted for many years.

She was a very religious woman, and attended Calvary Lutheran church in Grand Island for many years. She also enjoyed the outdoors, her pond, wild life and celestial events. Her steadfast love and encouragement will be missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Bruce “Kevin” (Christine) Kier of Grand Island, Scott Kier of St. Joseph, Mo., and Ryan Kier of Grand Island; grandchildren, Tiffani (Luke) Dea, Tonia (Kane) Schmall, Emily Kier, Leighton Kier, Hannah Kier, Kamryn Kier, Addy Kier, Claire Kier, Taylor Callahan Kier, Mason Placke, Nolan Kier, Rylan Kier and Reagan Kier; six great-grandchildren; sister, Mary (Joe) Jardon, sister-in-law, Anna Kampe; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
