Missing Oberlin man found dead

OBERLIN, Kan. — In Decatur County, Kansas, Dale Meitl, a resident of Oberlin, who had been reported missing, has been found deceased. Meitl was last seen at Sappa Park on Saturday, Jan. 27, around 11 p.m. His SUV was discovered abandoned on a dirt road, located four miles south and one mile east of Oberlin.

A joint effort involving the Decatur County Emergency Management, Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oberlin Police Department commenced a search operation in the vicinity of Oberlin, leading to the discovery of Meitl's body not far from where his vehicle was located.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death remains ongoing.
