75th anniversary

McCOOK, Neb. - John Hubert and Eileen Ackerman were married the evening of Sunday, Feb. 6, 1949 at Peace Lutheran Church in McCook, Neb.

The week before the wedding, John had been working on an oil-fired locomotive which was pushing a snowplow to clear the railroad tracks from Sterling, Colo. to Cheyenne, Wyo. He arrived back in McCook Saturday evening. Eileen was sure hoping he would get back in time for the wedding! And he did!

They were blessed with five children: Christina Coleman and husband Charles of McCook; Fred (Fritz) Hubert and wife Janet of McCook; Robert (Bob) Hubert and wife Sherry of Rochester, Minn.; Laura Karp (deceased); and Michelle Doorn and husband Rob of Davis, SD.

They have also been blessed with 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Cards of congratulations can be sent to:

To my Eileen

By John Hubert

I don’t know how to cook, the house I never clean.

Sometimes I am kinda onery, But never never mean.

But I wrote this little poem, from my heart it came.

It says just what I think, and it will always be the same.

Now here is my little poem, the best that I can do.

And because you are always in my heart, this is just to you.

As we grow old, our love grows too.

Now I am sure of this, with me and you.

We are lucky to have so many years together.

It’s like sunshine that blesses the weather.

Now we need to grow older and have each other,

Your children all know you have been a wonderful mother.

So lots of love to you every day

We are getting older, but that’s OK.

Love, from Me.
