Falcons fight past Broncos; Southwest wins eight straight

WALLACE, Neb. — Senior Katie Jarecke blazed for 19 points as RPAC West No. 6 Hitchcock County pulled Saturday’s best win based on seeding, 46-43, over No. 3 Wauneta-Palisade.

The Falcons (7-8 record) already owned a 51-42 home win over W-P (5-8) on Jan. 5.

They built a narrow 26-25 halftime lead Saturday, then broke free during their 13-4 third quarter.

Jarecke sizzled with four three-pointers in seven attempts.

Sophomore Raegan Hagan added eight points, sophomorre Madsyn Carlson five and soph Riley Hagan netted another five.

Riley Hagan hit another Falcon long-range bomb as did senior Byanka Tyan.

Tyan cleaned the glass of seven rebounds while Carlson grabbed nine and also swiped three steals. Senior Daelyn Mues and Tyan made two steals apiece.

WALLACE, Neb. — Freshman Clara Spargo’s 18 points led the Dundy County-Stratton girls as they’re now 8-9 for this season.

Freshman Kimberly Escobar added 11 points and junior Laynee Lutz tossed in another 10.

Senior Alyssa Schneider did more of the dirty work with eight rebounds and four steals.

Cambridge 36,

Arapahoe 29

CURTIS, Neb. — The Cambridge girls overcame a 6-3 first quarter to reach the RPAC East semifnals on Saturday.

Senior Jalen Kent’s 11 points led the Trojans (10-5) with eight each from senior Brylyn Springer and junior Erin Johnson.

Senior Berkley Warner’s nine points paced Arapahoe and freshman Clara Hilker hustled to 12 rebounds.

Southwest 53,

Med Valley 36

CURTIS, Neb. — Junior Atleigh Nelms’ 15 points and 13 from Kyra Nelms powered the Roughriders’ eighth straight win on Saturday.

Junior Allison Van Pelt tallied another 10 points for 11-5 SW.

Junior Remmi Stout’s 12 points and 11 from senior Stella Heapy topped host Medicine Valley.

CURTIS, Neb. — The Southern Valley girls soared to 15-1 behind an awesome 40-point effort from senior Ann Bose and Tori Bose’s 11.
