McCook JV wrestlers take two titles at Gothenburg

GOTHENBURG, Neb. — McCook’s JV wrestling boys won two titles and placed sixth overall among teams at the Gothenburg Invitational on Thursday.

The Bison totaled 84 points which outscored Hershey, Valentine, Cozad, Holdrege and Ogallala.

Kearney captured the team title with 262 points while Lexington placed a distant second, scoring 173.

Gothenburg (108), Minden (97.5) and Broken Bow (91) completed the top five.

All McCook Bison results from Thursday:

132A pounds: Jack Siegfried (3-0 record) won the championship. He pinned C. Reiman, GOTH, in 3:41; pinned J. Arensdorf, HERS, in 3:27; and won 11-10 over B. Baca, COZ.

285B: Layton Carpenter (3-0) won the championship. He pinned J. Uma, Kearney, in :50; pinned E. Castellanos, Lex, in 1:26; and pinned A. Tucker, Bow, in :40.

113B: Ethan Boner placed second. He won 6-3 over C. Uhlig, Bow; lost 3-1 to D. Hernandez, MIND; pinned I. Lopez, Lex, in :23.

138B: Carter Hartwell placed second. He won 9-4 over J. Magana, Lex; was pinned by B. Hendricksen, Bow, in 2:31.

157B: Jacob Luke placed second. He pinned J. Blomstedt, MC, in :36; and was pinned by T. Koch, GOTH, in 4:01.

190C: Davien Hanson placed second. He pinned J. Santos, Kearney, in 3:31; and was pinned by J. Parker, HERS, in 3:57.

120C: Wyatt Benes placed third. He pinned J. Lopez, Lex, in 4:49; lost 9-5 to A. Solomon, Kearney; was pinned by E. Borer, VAL, in :55.

215A: Jose Campos placed third. He lost 9-5 to C. Atkinson, GOTH; was pinned by A. Newell, Kearney, in 2:22; and won 7-0 over R. Edelman, Hershey.

175A: Jackson Blomstedt placed third. He was pinned by H. Brockevett, GOTH, in 1:34; and lost 8-5 to L. Guajardo, Lex.
