Two students win 'Name a Snowplow' contest

CULBERTSON Neb. - Two area students were acknowledged by the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) for winning the annual Snow Plow Naming contest. Parker McCain second-grade student in Maywood Elementary named one snow plow “Snow More Math” was named by Maywood Elementary second grader, Parker McCain. Abominable Snow Monster was named by Hitchcock Elementary third grader, Lydia Barth.

The classes of both students were treated to a visit from NDOT Officials who presented them with a certificate and a mini snowplow.

The classes were able to tour a snowplow, ask questions, and take photos.

The Name A Snowplow contest drew over 1,200 entries this year, showcasing the enthusiasm and creativity of Nebraska students. This annual event, organized by NDOT, aims to engage the community and foster awareness about the importance of snowplow operations in maintaining safe travel conditions during winter storms.

Both McCain’s and Barth’s winning names will be featured on NDOT’s snowplow tracker, allowing students to follow their respective snowplows throughout the winter season.
