STANTON, Neb. — Class D-1 No. 1 Stanton ran for more than 500 yards while knocking out the Arapahoe Warriors, 58-28, in state quarterfinal play Friday night.

Barrett Wilke gained 249 yards on 19 carries and three touchdowns.

Yet Becker Pohlman added another 180 with his 14 carries to another three TDs.

Arapahoe (9-2 final record) could not match the 11-0 Mustangs, who took an opening 24-0 lead.

Following Wilke’s 51-yard rumble, Pohlman took a Warrior fumble 24 yards to the second Stanton TD.

Pohlman then ran six yards and the Mustangs (11-0) went three-for-three on two-point PATs that made it 24-0.

Arapahoe was coming off a 12-6 thrilling quarterfinal victory over previously unbeaten Arapahoe, but no foe has stopped Stanton this fall.

“We just could not match their phyiscality,” Arapahoe coach Dustin Kronhofman said.

Junior Trenton Roskop broke through one yard to the first Warrior score, but Wilke soon dashed for a 63-yard touchdown.

Wilke went 17 yards before Kade Fisher’s 15-yard scoring strike to Grayson Koller.

An Arapahoe two-point PAT made it 40-14 at intermission.

Stanton’s lead reached 52-14 until two fourth-quarter Arapahoe scores.

Roskop found Koller from four yards and then Fisher fired a 24-yard touchdown pass to Will Cacy. Fisher finished with 74 team-high rushing yards, Cacy 33 and senoir Rafe Hill 32.
